Community Midwives

Community Midwives are attached to the Practice and attend on Tuesday afternoons in the Antenatal Clinic.

They give advice on pregnancy, childbirth, and contraception.

The Community Midwives can discuss relaxation and parentcraft classes as well as visit in the early days after delivery.

Community Nurses

The District Nurses provide a domiciliary service when nursing care and advice is needed in the home. This is usually arranged through your doctor, but you can contact the nurse at the Health Centre directly. They are employed by Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust.

The District Nurse Zonal Team Co-ordinator is Nicola Collins.

The Community District Nurses are Rhona James, Deborah I'Anson, Trudy Collins, Jennie Hummer, Laura Cole, Lisa Higham, Linda Buchanan and Sue Gregson. Their telephone number is 01772 777303/4.

Health Visitors

The Health Visitor can give advice on most aspects of health care particularly for expectant mothers, babies, and children.

They do home visits for newborn babies.

With effect from 20 March 2015 the Health Visitor will no longer attend the Practice Baby clinic every Friday morning.

They can be contacted weekdays 9.00 am to 10.00 am and 4.00 pm to 4.30 pm.

They are employed by Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and are based at Ribbleton Health Centre (Main reception – 01772 777473). Contact them on 01772  777294.

The Health Visitor Team Leader is Kathryn Wright.

The Heath Visitor Team Co-ordinator is Deborah Sache.

Community Matron

The Community Matron is here to help patients with long term conditions and extra health needs. Matron will help to prevent admissions to hospital; reduce the length of stay of necessary hospital admissions, and improve patient’s ability to function and their quality of life.

The Community Matron for this practice is Kim Slater is based at the Health Centre with the District Nurse team. Her contact number is 01772 777262.

Psychological Wellbeing Practioner

This is a support and therapy service for patients with anxiety and depression; patients are referred to this service by the GPs.
